About Denmark

The Kingdom of Denmark is a country in Northern Europe with a population of just 5.7 million. Denmark has one of the oldest continuous monarchies in the world with Queen Margrethe II being able to trace her ancestry back to the Viking days more than 1000 years ago.

Many world-famous artists, authors and poets were born in Denmark and inspired by the Danish nature and culture. Among these is Hans Christian Andersen, who wrote fairy tales like “The Little Mermaid”, “The Ugly Duckling”, “The Nightingale” and many others. Still, Denmark is continuously taking initiatives to work towards global climate goals and improve the sustainability of the Danish society.

The Kingdom of Denmark is the only country to have unbroken diplomatic presence in China since 1908. The Danish recognition of the People's Republic of China and its national territory has remained unchanged since 9th of January 1950. In recent times, China and Denmark have agreed to intensify their cooperation in the fields of education, climate, research, energy and environment.
